All children enrolled in the Children’s Project will receive much needed nutritional support at critical times of the year.
The feedback we receive from our families has shown us the tremendous need for additional nutritional support due to a high level of food insecurity among our clients. Our Children's Project surveys have shown us that, before receiving groceries through this program, 49% of parents went to bed hungry to provide for their kids; 29% of children went to bed hungry, too.
The families enrolled in our Children’s Project through the Head Start centers perform a needs assessment, and most families request critical food pantry information because they do not have enough food to eat. We feel this growing need must be addressed, and our goal is to alleviate food insecurity in these children’s lives.
Targeted families enrolled in our Children’s Project will receive key support during different points of the year, consisting of non-perishables and bread. During the summer months when subsidized meals are unavailable because school is closed for the summer, over 200 families will receive fresh produce, meat, non-perishables and bread during each of the months of June, July, and August.
With your support we are committed to making a powerful difference in the lives of children and families struggling with poverty and food insecurity in our community.
