School Supply Drive
HSP has been collecting schools supplies and distributing them to children since 1992. Many children living in poverty arrive at school without the supplies they need to perform the work because their families are living on a limited income. We consider this a basic need at HSP, as all children deserve the right to attend school and have the tools they need to succeed in the classroom.
How and where do we distribute our school supplies to children?
Every school aged child enrolled in our Children’s Project receives school supplies in their birthday boxes.
Every August, we provide vans of school supplies to the DuPage Board of Education’s Back to School Fair where low income families living in DuPage County can attend to receive supplies for their children. We also give supplies in August to Kane County Project Backpack to be given to children living in poverty in Kane County. In support of National Night Out, we provide school supplies to the Carol Stream Police Department so they can distribute supplies to low income children living in Carol Stream.
This is where the amazing people within our community step forward and help to collect these much needed supplies so we are able to reach over 3000 children living within DuPage and Kane counties.
