We are extremely thankful to the National Letter carriers for conducting the Stamp Out Hunger food drive on Saturday, May 11th. And for the many wonderful people that gave food and essentials for those experiencing hunger in our communities. The letter carriers work hard to pickup food at people's homes and give it to charities such as the Humanitarian Service Project. We are thankful for the volunteers who went to the post offices and for those at HSP's center that helped to unload cars and vans filled with food. This incredible event resulted in HSP receiving 8,460 pounds off food from the Carol Stream, Clarendon Hills, West Chicago, and Willowbook post offices. This is incredibly important as we are seeing a 61% increase in the number of households needing help with food from a year ago. Thank you to all involved for providing nutritious meals to seniors, children and their families.
