Hi Friends,
I love nothing more than when I am able to say THANK YOU to all the amazing people that give of themselves to take care of children and the elderly.
I want to celebrate everyone that has answered our call for help and responded to our mailing, emails, calls and newsletters. Many of you also gave through Giving DuPage Day, allowing us to receive a match from Science of Spirituality.
Your incredible generosity is the only reason we can keep up with the growing demand for food and essential items. Every month this year we are serving more households than the last, with April being 50% more households served than in February. We haven't finished May yet, but the the trend continues.
You are the reason, children, mothers, fathers, and seniors have nutritious meals to eat and a place to come where they can retain their dignity. Every week we receive beautiful thank you cards from seniors and here is what they have to say about what your support means to them.
Arlene just celebrated her 85th birthday. She is a breast cancer survivor and wheelchair bound, but she is always very thankful for everyone at HSP. She writes, "I appreciate all the years that you have helped me. To all the mother's Happy Mother's Day. God Bless, Love Arlene."
Flo is 81 years young and writes her words of thanks every month without fail. She loves her grocery gift card which she uses to purchase food and for the help her amazing Secret pal provides every month. She writes, "Hello to everyone and hope you're doing well now we're with good weather (sometimes) pretty flowers are blooming. Thank you for the small card decorated with very pretty colors, I really like that extra little touch. Have a great summer and be safe and God Bless all of you always at HSP, Flo."
Arlene is very sweet and the staff loves when she comes to HSP for food because she is always so kind. Arlene is always appreciative for what she receives along with the gift card which enables her to buy food for kitty, Hazel. She shared this with us, "Thank you for my new glasses. I decided to go with the long distance for driving. My prescription changed slightly. It's so nice to be able to drive and see when it's really sunning big time outside. They look really nice as well. I have had many complements on them. I am so enjoying my balcony again. I really love sitting and reading, while Hazel watches me through the screen. Hope everyone there has a great summer. Hazel thanks you for her gift card. And I also thank you for the gift cards. With much love, Arlene and Hazel."
The image of the card in this article is from Arlene and the words are very simple, yet powerful.
Gratitude is Essential
I am grateful for all of you. Every. Single. Day. It is an honor to be able to share the stories of seniors and families as they handle life's greatest challenges and to have a loving group of friends step forward to reduce their pain and suffering.
Your acts of love and support are what keep us all going. Thank you for being the positive energy behind the project and for serving so many in need.
Yours in Love and Service,
Kristin Senne
