Hi Friends,
I am thrilled to announce something that has never happened before...
Your incredible support made it possible to enroll TWO seniors into the Senior Citizen Project.
You have saved Dale AND Karen from hunger, forever.
I asked for your help, and you came forward, ensuring that Dale never has to worry about where her next meal will come from. Then you kept giving which made it possible for Karen to move from the wait list into SCP as well.
Thank you to the many wonderful people that gave, and to Harry Sailer Jr. for matching $8,000 to your generous donations.
Enjoy reading more about Dale and Karen and what they had to say about your incredible kindness.
81 year-old Dale has been patiently waiting since December of 2023 to be enrolled in the Senior Citizen Project. As a widow and dealing with heart related issues, life isn't easy. Thanks to you, when Dean shared the great news that she was being enrolled, Dale became very excited and said, "I feel very blessed." Dean explained that she can receive a monthly delivery or a gift card to the grocery store of her choice and she selected the gift card. She explained, "The gift card will help me so I feel I can pay for my insurance and food." With high medical bills for ongoing care, now she can use her income to pay her bills and use the card for groceries, along with coming to HSP for food.
It was the most amazing moment when we realized that we could enroll another senior through your tremendous gifts. Karen has also been waiting since 2023 and was surprised to receive the call from Dean. At the age of 70, Karen is a widow and has a number of serious health issues, including lupus. With high medical bills and the cost of living, Karen was trying hard to stretch her budget to afford healthy food to eat. She would have to visit food pantries to make it through the month. Karen told Dean she can't wait to come next Wednesday to pickup food and other items she desperately needs.
I am honored to be surrounded by remarkable people who, every day, give of themselves to care for others.
Now, thanks to your compassionate heart, Dale and Karen will always have nutritious meals to eat along with paper products and hygiene items like soap and shampoo. They will have a safe place to come, where people will listen and they can ask for what they truly need. I think Dale said it best when at the end of the conversation with Dean, she said, "I am overwhelmed with joy for HSP." Well, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for you, my friends.
Yours in love and service,
Kristin Senne
Executive Director
