Hi Friends,
It is awesome to see our wonderful friends at the center as you brave the cold to drop off toys, gift cards and food. Thank you to the family of the Making Dreams Possible Charitable Fund for providing a $10,000 match and for all the loving people that gave whose gifts were doubled for Giving Tuesday. And to all of you that have been giving so we can prepare for the crazy holiday season ahead.
You are bringing happiness to families and seniors like Janice and Sheila who come to HSP to pickup food. Sheila who affectionately was nicknamed "Cookie" by her dad when she was young, arrived on the Pace bus this morning. She sat in a wing chair in our office, while Matt brought her a coffee and pulled her groceries. Cookie talked to me about how much she loves it here, because everyone is so nice. She tells all her friends how blessed she is to come for food and how it's hard to leave because it's so comfortable. As Cookie got on the bus, she wished all of us a Merry Christmas.
Janice calls weekly to talk with Julia and Nancy about things going on in her life. She was thrilled to share that homemade chicken soup was being made in the crockpot with the produce and chicken she received. The cake was also a big hit because it reminded her of one her mom used to make. Janice explained to Julia that she thoroughly enjoyed it with her tea and thought about her mom. As they went to hang up the phone, Janice said, "You've been taking such good care of me! I always get what I need."
As we move through the busy month of December you have a chance to provide food and essentials to other seniors like Cookie and Janice.
For $33, you provide meals to two families or seniors each day of the week. You can ensure there are meals around the table by clicking HERE.
You are welcome to mail a check or, drop it by our center Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM. You can also place a check through the mail slot in our front door outside of these hours.
The meaningful conversations, and meals to eat make all the difference in the world to seniors, children and their families. Have a wonderful weekend my friends and I look forward to our visits next week.
