Saturday was Valentine's day but I like to think of February as the month of love and not just limit it to one day of celebration. Every week in February I will be offering another way you can make a child or a senior feel special through your loving support.
Seniors like 90 year old Edith who faithfully wrote thank you cards, including the month before she passed away. Last week we received a call from Edith's niece that her Aunt died unexpectedly in January. The family was still in a state of shock. Over the years, I have shared many of Edith's cards with you and the card next to this article is one of my favorite cards she wrote to us last year.
The love and support Edith received can be shared with another senior by being their Secret Pal. We currently have 48 seniors that would love a pal.
As a Secret Pal you provide a gift card of $10.00 - $25.00 a month for a senior to use for basic needs, like medication or a treat they otherwise couldn't afford.
Some pals write notes to their seniors in a card while others donate the gift card on it's own. Honestly, the senior will be thrilled with what ever you decide to do. The gift card can be dropped off at our center or sent in the mail.
