Every week we have incredible volunteers that come to HSP and serve those in need. It would be impossible for our small staff to do the work without their tremendous support. Everything that comes through HSP's doors must be sorted and put into the proper place. From sorting food, to stocking the pantry, pickups in the community and deliveries to the homes of seniors and families with no transportation, our volunteers do it all. Toys are sorted, backpacks packed and groceries handed out to those in need every week. THANK YOU for your loving support, time and energy you give to provide happiness and comfort to children and seniors.

Our delightful friends came from Belmont Village to put together birthday boxes for children enrolled in the Children's Project. The residents at Belmont Village have been volunteering and donating to help seniors and children for the last 18 years. They work hard to raise money which they use to purchase food, personal care items, toys and items for birthday parties for kiddos. A wonderful time was had by all during this special volunteering event at HSP.

A huge thank you to the Carol Stream community and the Rotary Club of Carol Stream for filling the HSP van with much needed items. The van was packed with food, paper products and personal care products donated to help families and seniors struggling with hunger in our community. Seniors, children and their families will receive the help they need because of the support of Carol Stream residents.

Kristin Senne, HSP's Executive Director was honored to be a guest of Dr. Donald and Beth McNeeley / Chicago Tube & Iron at the Guardian Angels gala event. This incredible event helps to support Guardian Angel Community Services programs. This organization has been serving and changing lives in the community since 1897 providing services to those affected by sexual assault and domestic violence. They strive to instill hope through client-centered services provided in a safe and confidential environment.

Kristin Senne, Executive Director is honored to receive a Changemakers Award through the Marquardt School District 15 on March 21st. The annual Changemakers event celebrates individuals who have made a significant impact in their community. It was wonderful to be in the company of the other two adults who received Changemakers awards, Chief George Pappas and Emiliano Garcia. There were also three Student Changemakers awards handed out to children that exhibited changemaker qualities and are making a difference in their community.

It was a fun filled visit when Joel and his two children, Jacob and Mia came to the HSP center. They collected toys from friends, family and wonderful donors which they donated to provide children with wonderful birthdays. While they were here they had a tour of the center and learned more about HSP's programs. We are excited about this new partnership with the Joy in Every Toy Foundation!

It was wonderful for Kristin, the Executive Director to speak at the Kiwanis club meeting in January. While Kristin was there, the club presented her with a check to sponsor a child in the Children's Project. For 25 years this club has been supporting HSP and providing children with a huge birthday box filled with new toys, books, and party supplies to have a birthday! Thank you to all of the loving people that donated toys, books, gift cards, food, personal care items, and new clothing to make Christmas merry for seniors, children and their families. We are thankful for the many wonderful people that gave financial donations which provided nutritious groceries for families and seniors to enjoy delicious meals. You made the holidays a beautiful experience for those in need.

The incredible students at the Lake Park High School campuses conducted a food drive for seniors and children enrolled in HSP's programs. Dan Colucci, a teacher and baseball coach at Lake Park spearheaded the drive along with other staff. Thank you to all the students and teachers that gave food and essential items to help the elderly and children suffering from hunger in our communities.

We received a wonderful donation of school supplies to help kiddos start the new school year off right. HSP's Executive Director gave a tour of the warehouse, toy room and food pantry to this amazing group of people to talk about HSP's programs. It was a great visit and an opportunity to share about the important difference they are making in the lives of children and their families.

A terrific time was had by people from all over the world at Veggie Fest. We even had a visit from a dove in our booth, who was affectionately named Karole after our Co-Founder who passed away eleven years ago. Science of Spirituality is the host sponsor of Veggie Fest which is one of the largest vegetarian food and wellness festivals in North America. Our amazing friends at the Science of Spirituality have been providing food to seniors and families, birthdays to children and toys to kiddos at Christmas for the last 12 years. For the last 9 years the Cruisin' Tigers have been supporting children in the Children's Project through their Indian Uprising All Pontiac weekend event. The club feels strongly about donating to children's charities and has done so for over 30 years. Many people came out to the event to showcase their cars along with the spectators.
